This year has brought many sudden and unexpected changes. As we ride each wave of change, the importance of remaining flexible couldn’t feel more true.
As a company, we plan our development based on our vision of the future and the current market needs. If the world changes overnight, which seems to be the case for this year, we adjust our roadmap to best serve our customer’s needs.
Remote teams need iconik, more now than ever, to communicate around their media. Here are some new features that will help.
Draw-On Annotations
You’ve probably had people do exactly as you have asked, but just not quite how you intended. A lot of information can be lost when we’re not communicating face to face. Draw-on annotations help clear up any confusion.
This feature has been requested a lot for the review and approval workflows in iconik. Users can draw on images and videos to give clear visual feedback. With the ability to show and tell with feedback, collaborations are more powerful.
Here are the drawing tools you can use
- Free line drawing tool
- Arrow tool
- Text tool
- Square tool
- Ellipse tool
- Color chooser
- Select and move tool
- Undo
- Redo
You can draw on images, single frames of a video, and even mark a segment of a video for your drawing to display. The annotations can be turned on and off while previewing content.
We’re excited to offer this because, at the end of the day, our goal is to empower creative people to create more in less time.
Transcription with AI
Imagine if you had to create a highlight reel for a certain football player. The transcription feature would allow you to find every mention of that player in your video library by searching for their name. The transcription feature in iconik uses AI to convert voice to text and attribute it to a speaker. All the spoken dialog is added to the asset’s metadata. Now searches for the best clips of a person over last month are a lot easier.
After an asset is transcribed, the transcriptions can be displayed as closed captions in the iconik player. You can also see them in the transcription panel where they can be viewed in two different views.
- Transcription View: Displays text separated by speakers
- Segment View: Displays individual lines of text with a timecode
Selecting text in the transcription panel will bring the player to that same spot. If you select text in the transcription view, iconik will automatically mark an in and out point in the player so that you can add a time-based comment for that section.
Editing transcriptions is easy, just click on the words to change them. The changes are reflected in the closed captions as well. Speaker attributions can be changed just as easily by clicking the speaker and choosing the correct speaker from the list. Transcriptions can be downloaded as text or WebVTT files. If you prefer to use another AI service for transcriptions other than the default, you can connect your own license.
More Updates
If you’re using iconik now, you’ll be happy to see we didn’t stop there. We’ve listened to your feedback and added these improvements as well.
Folder Uploads
It is now possible to upload folders into iconik. The structure of the folder and subfolders will be maintained in iconik.
Transfer Collections With Their Structure
When transferring an iconik collection, the collection structure is included as a directory structure. This means that if you transfer a collection to another storage, it will be organized the same way as it is in iconik.
Azure Blob Storage Support
iconik has basic Azure Blob storage support for uploads, downloads, and the iconik Storage Gateway (ISG).
Shortened Share Links
Yes, we know. Before, share links were quite long, but now we shrunk them down like this https://icnk.io/u/zck767Hed4lg/
Partial Cloud Scans
The cloud scanner in iconik can support partial scans such as a single folder or file via the iconik API. This offers more control over how you manage your cloud resources.
